Single & Triple-Mounted All-in-one Pedestrian Walkway Lighting
Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario
Clear Blue delivered Smart Off-Grid lighting for Niagara-on-the-Lake’s historic Queenston waterfront, including one triple-mounted Senti™ cluster at the main lookout and a series of single-pole Sentis that trace the river’s edge.
Why Smart Off-Grid?
Queenston wanted to showcase its scenic riverwalk and improve safety for evening strollers, cyclists, and tourists visiting the nearby Heritage Trail. Running grid power across the shoreline would have meant trenching through sensitive parkland and costly utility extensions. Clear Blue’s solar-powered Senti systems offered a fast, low-impact alternative with:
- Mission-critical, 365-day autonomy—even during winter storms that roll off Lake Ontario.
- Architectural flexibility: the triple-head Senti provides wide, uniform coverage at the promenade entrance, while the slim single poles blend into the historic streetscape.
- Real-time Illumience™ management so town staff can adjust light levels, view energy reserves, and receive automatic alerts—without leaving their desks.
- A dramatic reduction in maintenance visits, advancing Niagara-on-the-Lake’s climate-action plan.
Results
Installed ahead of the summer tourist season, the systems now illuminate the riverwalk, public benches, and kayak launch until dawn—without glare into adjacent residences. Local business owners report increased evening foot traffic, and encouraged by the success, Niagara-on-the-Lake is evaluating additional Smart Off-Grid lights for nearby parkettes and trailheads.
